Target Group
Youths aged 16-29 with low educational attainments, low levels of skill and low incomes
An initiative of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) Jockey Club Tin Shui Wai
Integrated Services Centre, TWGHs Cycling Ecotourism Social Enterprise (BiciLine)
established on August 13, 2008. Funded by the Enhancing Self-Reliance through
District Partnership Program under the Home Affairs Department and co-organized
by Hong Kong Baptist University, BiciLine is a green social enterprise focusing
on guided cycling eco-tours.
BiciLine aims at recruiting and training youngsters in Yuen Long district (including Tin Shui Wai) to become tour guides, touring its clients around the ecological features and main historical relics in the western New Territories. BiciLine operated as a self-financing green enterprise on August 13, 2010 in providing diversifiable eco-tours and related services.
BiciLine won the overall winner of the "Rising Star Award" at the Social Enterprise Summit - Social Investment Forum in Nov 2011. BiciLine was recognized as one of the "Most Devoted Go Green Organisation" at the Weekend Weekly Go Green Awards in July 2012. In 2014, BiciLine was honoured the 4th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Bronze Award (Social Enterprise Category) to affirm its outstanding achievements in implementing and promoting corporate social responsibility.

Service Development
BiciLine is committed to cultivating the market for green tourism and promoting
cycling eco-tour. Up to 2014, more than 40,000 participants have been benefiting
from the various services provided by BiciLine via undertaking programs or
activities for government agencies, multinational enterprises, Hong Kong listed
companies, education institutions, community organizations and private groups.
BiciLine endeavors to promote partnership among businesses. Under the free leasing scheme eastablished with Swarovski Optik in 2010, BiciLine can obtain professional equipment for birding. In Oct 2011, BiciLine jointly established a new eco cycling tour "New World ECOASIS Series - Kam Pok Eco Tour" with New World Development Company Limited (NWD). The three-year collaboration is sponsored by NWD.

Tour Guide Training Program

Youths from Yuen Long district who are interested can apply and there will be two
selection interviews (group and individual). Successful applicants are required
to undergo a 70-hour basic training in three months. Upon passing the oral and
written examination as well as route navigation examination, trainees must
complete a three-month fieldwork placement and assessment before becoming a
qualified tour guide.
Launched in 2013, BiciLine has conducted 10 seasons of tour guide training program grooming a total of 100 tour guides.
All tour guides works for BiciLine on a part-time basis, starting at HK$38 per hour. One can enter for internal promotion examination after completing a specific number of service hours and having outstanding performance. Upon passing the examination, one will be promoted as senior tour guide at HK$58 per hour and be nominated as management trainee. To nurture future executives, BiciLine allows management trainees to attend business meetings, having involvement in operation and marketing strategy and to receive related business administration trainings.
